Mary Hamilton

Specialty:
I am a printmaker employing the process of printing by the reduction process using linoleum blocks. I do all the work myself and the edition sizes are small and strictly limited. All are signed and numbered. I do not deal in reproductions. I explore the worlds of myth and magic.

Mary’s Biography

Mary Hamilton lives in rural Western Pennsylvania. She studied at Indiana University of Pa and taught for a while and then went to graduate school in Rome, Italy. After that journey she was inspired to pursue the path of a full time artist. Most of her work is produced with linoleum blocks using the process of reduction. This process, where the block is progressively cut away is handprinted progressively darker colors ensuring that the edition size will be strictly limited. Mary does not sell reproductions. Each image is pulled by hand from the block. Her Belgian Sheepdog is a constant model and inspiration as are the worlds of myth, magic and animals in general.
