Madison Rose’s Biography

Madison Rose Wood of Madison Rose Ceramics is an artist and poet in her own right. Inspired by her love of gardens and greenery, Madison is an Erie raised potter who was introduced to her craft when she was just eleven years old. She attributes her ability to pursue her creative passions to the strong creative women and business owners that she looks up to in her life. She received her BFA in Ceramics in 2021 from PennWest Edinboro. Shortly after graduating she purchased her kiln and built her studio space; Madison Rose Ceramics was fully brought to fruition in 2023. Madison brings a sense of elegance and modern femininity to the traditional art of pottery that we all know and love. She creates a variety of functional kitchenware and home goods such as mugs, serving platters, bouquet vases and more. Each piece that Madison creates is individually wheel thrown before being skillfully trimmed and altered. Her work is fired using glazes she creates herself and follows a signature palette that sets her apart from others. Madison’s work is constantly blossoming. In fact, one of her favorite things about working with clay is that there are very few limitations when it comes to improving form. She sees pottery as a naturally organic art form as the artist creates from materials found in the earth. In this way, she sees her work as an extension of her connection to nature, parallel to the way she views her gardening, one of her favorite past times. Madison looks forward to her journey as an artist and is excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Pittsburgh Craftsman Guild.
