I am a maker of traditional-meets-modern quilts, wall hangings, and textile art pieces. First drawn to beautiful fabrics and colors, I have been sewing for nearly 15 years, forming a specialty in handwork over that time:embroidery, hand-sewing, and hand-quilting. I have always felt that those skills can be featured as the art itself – a single row of stitches made by hand is as beautiful to me as an entire painting. I love handwork for the very reason that some wouldn’t: it’s slow work that cannot be mass-produced, and allows the unique shape of my stitches to shine, like a fingerprint. My stitches reflect back on the generations of women who made their own stitches before me. Bringing these traditional needlecraft into the modern world, I enjoy the combination of organic handmade stitches and the more severe look of machine quilting. The combination of those elements – traditional meets modern – is unique about my work and style.
