My pottery is wheel thrown and altered using carving, texturing and slip trailing techniques. I use a white stoneware body with a wood ash glaze on the surfaces. The wood ash comes from the wood stove we use to heat our home

Francine’s Biography

Francine’s pottery has always reflected her passions including antique carvings, Victorian art, and vibrant color. After retiring from teaching in the Mt.Lebanon Schools when her daughter was born. pottery developed from a hobby into a small business. Through the years, her work has changed reflecting her interests at the time included red glazes after a visit to Arizona, and Egyptian designs after a recent trip to Egypt. She exhibits in fine art shows across the country and is represented in 20 fine art galleries in the U.S. She was Artist of the month in the Harrisburg State Capitol building , and Best of Show in Emerging Artists at the Disney Master’s Art show in Orlando. Pottery is a unique vehicle of self expression, and these in these months of quarantine, it has become even more apparent that working with clay is an essential part of her being.
