My work begins as sheet and wire metal. Where someone might stick the materials in a machine or melt it down to cast, I challenge myself to create and imitate those processes using only hand tools. How it is made matters a great deal to me and I strive to out do myself with each blow of the hammer.
Alexander Draven discovered his passion for creating jewelry in 2001 while attending Myers School of Art in Akron, Ohio. Over the next several years he toiled tirelessly to expand and improve his metalsmithing techniques as he worked in the manufacturing and engineering sector. Eventually obsession got the best of Alex, and he added watchmaking and leather work to his growing skillset.
In 2006 Alex decided it was time to disrupt the idea of generic manufactured products being passed off as fashion and created Exquisite Corpse Boutique. By 2015 The ExCB matured into a thriving full-time labor of love. Since then he has continued to honor his commitment to expression and individuality without sacrificing quality.
