Throughout the many years that I have been creating art, I like to think that my creativity has evolved into “organized chaos”. After graduating from Chatham College, I started to concentrate on drawing and painting. At that time, I was mostly producing hand-drawn, whimsical, cartoon-like figures and caricatures that I would transform into greeting cards and invitations. A trip to Santa Fe introduced me to the look of painted furniture and I realized that I could combine my love for vibrant color and design in pieces which would become the focal point in any room. These commission-based works of art inhabit many homes in Pittsburgh. Combining my past techniques of playful, bold, eclectic art, I began experimenting on canvas which has culminated in my present creations. Using a combination of acrylics, decoupage, found 3-D objects, shadowboxes and miniatures, I’ve been able to throw together all of my art interests in each painting, which begs you to “Come closer” --- “Peek inside”. The common thread throughout each of these paintings is a glimpse into and out of the windows of this unusual, amusing, curious world we live in.
