Director, A Fair in the Park
The Craftsmen’s Guild of Pittsburgh is a nonprofit guild founded in 1944 and made up of the top craftspeople from the Pittsburgh region. The signature event of the Craftsmen’s Guild is A Fair in the Park, our annual arts festival in Mellon Park. We are seeking a Director of A Fair in the Park to organize and run all aspects of the Fair. This is a seasonal contract position reporting to the Board of Directors.
This position includes, but is not limited to:
Securing City of Pittsburgh permits
Securing all vendors who provide services for A Fair in the Park
Creating artist applications and communicating with all artists
Securing corporate sponsorships
Coordinating with the Board of Directors and committee chairs on all aspects of the Fair
Create/coordinate all marketing materials
Create/coordinate PR plan
Maintain A Fair in the Park website
Manage the event
Organize all volunteers and staff at the Fair
Manage expenditures to stay within approved budget
Detail oriented, organized, and possessing strong interpersonal skills
Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to get along with others and manage expectations for a wide variety of needs and personalities
Personal computer, phone and vehicle
Compensation based on experience
The Director of A Fair in the Park will work from home on his/her own schedule. Director must be on site for event set-up (September 7-8), the days of the event (September 9-11), artist party (evening of September 10) and for event tear down (September 12). Director must also attend several planning meetings with the board and a summary post meeting.
Must be able to manage an outdoor Fair, which will involve extensive walking on grassy, hilly terrain. Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
